Parents in Hays and the surrounding community will have the opportunity to improve their parenting skills during the upcoming The Incredible Years parent education program.

The Incredible Years® training programs give parents strategies to build positive relationships, attachments, and to manage behaviors such as aggressiveness, ongoing tantrums, and acting out behavior such as swearing, whining, yelling, hitting and kicking, answering back, and refusing to follow rules.

The class is open to all parents with children ages 2 to 8. The class is effective for parents who have children with social-emotional behavior problems, including conduct problems and ADHD.

The series of classes begin Febr. 26 and run until June 11. The registration period ends Feb. 19 and is limited to the first 10 families who register.

There is no cost to families who participate. In addition, free meals and childcare are provided.

The classes are taught by certified Incredible Years facilitators Emily Jackson and JoBeth Jackson.

The program is coordinated through the USD 489 Early Childhood Grants program and is funded by a grant from the United Methodist Health Ministry Fund grant and a Community-Based Grant for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect.

More information and registration are available online at: www.haysparents.com or by calling Dana Stanton at (785)-623-2400.
