HUTCHINSON — The suspect wounded by a Hutchinson police officer in November waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Thursday.
Justin Matthews, 29, entered guilty pleas to two of the three charges against him.
He is now guilty of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon and criminal threat against his mother.
The state as part of an agreement dropped the charge of aggravated assault against his mom.
Police Sgt. Josh Radloff was the first to arrive at the scene in the 300 Block of East 10th Street on November 10, and confronted Matthews.
He is alleged to have charged at the officer with a knife. The officer fired and wounded Matthews.
Matthews was taken to Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center for treatment of the gunshot wound to his right shoulder.
Sentencing in the case is set for Feb. 27.
