The city of Hays is accepting bids for four buffalo cows and one bull that are displayed near Frontier Park. According to Parks Director Jeff Boyle, the city would like to sell the animals because of their age.
“Once they get to a certain age, they have production problems and we start to face the problem of whether they can breed anymore,” Boyle said.
According to Boyle, the parks department is looking for one bull calf in exchange for the animals they are selling. If the city chose to award the bid to someone who doesn’t include a bull calf, they will look to buy one from another source.
Bids are due to the parks department at noon Feb. 4.
