A Utica couple celebrating their wedding anniversary in Las Vegas are among the five people killed Wednesday when a helicopter touring the Las Vegas Strip and Hoover Dam struck a mountainside.
Delwin and Tammy Chapman, longtime residents of Utica in Ness County, were celebrating their 25th anniversary during a week-long trip to Las Vegas, Utica City Superintendent Mark Davis said Thursday.
Delwin Chapman was a member of the Utica City Council. Tammy Chapman operated a beauty shop.
The Associated Press reported the helicopter crash about 5 p.m. Wednesday killed the pilot and all four passengers. The aircraft was operated by Sundance Helicopters.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
