School bus involved in Kansas accident

HUTCHINSON – A USD 308 school bus was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Friday morning in Reno County.

Hutchinson Police reported a truck was eastbound on 11th Street just east of the National Guard Armory.

The driver had the sun in his eyes, didn’t see the traffic light at the Baker Street intersection and collided with the bus that was northbound on Baker Street turning left onto 11th Street.

There were 10 children on the bus at the time of the crash.

The bus was on its way to both Hutchinson High School and Graber Elementary School.

Emergency medical personnel who examined the children at the accident scene reported no injuries.

EMS was summoned to the elementary school just before 9:30 after a student was apparently having some difficulty possibly related to the accident according to police.

That student was transported Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.
