ALTOONA – A Kansas boy was injured in an accident just before 9:30 a.m. on Saturday in Wilson County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2013 Toyota Prius driven by Michael R. Holliday, 57, Neodesha, was northbound on Quincy Street just south of 12th Street in Altoona.

According to authorities Bently Beckwith, 4, Altoona ran from the east ditch into the roadway.

The right side of the Prius hit the child. The vehicle stopped immediately at the location.

Beckwith was transported to Children’s Mercy in Kansas City.

Holliday and a passenger were not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
