Convicted murderer charged with battery of a Kan. corrections officer

HUTCHINSON— A Kansas man serving time for a murder conviction in Johnson County from 1994 and the battery of corrections officer conviction from Reno County in 1996 was back before a Reno County judge on Thursday morning.

Terrence Kelly, 35, originally from Parsons, Kansas, is now charged with battery of a corrections officer for an alleged incident that occurred on Nov. 13, 2013, at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility.

If convicted of the new charge, he could receive an additional eleven years in prison for the single count.

The case will now move to a waiver-status docket.
