A Thursday night front brought plenty of lightning to the Hays skies, and a little bit of moisture, as well.
Early rain reports ranged from 0.2 inches just southeast of town to 0.61 inches on the west side of Hays.
Rooks County also received a nice rain, with more than a third of an inch recorded in the western half of the county.
Trego and Russell counties got a sprinkle out of the front, although just a few hundredths of an inch were reported.
The front also brought a welcome cool-down to the region, with highs only expected in the mid-80s on Friday.
