Josephine “Josie” Robben
Walker, Kansas – Josephine “Josie” Robben, age 105, died Friday, December 30, 2011, At Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.
She was born January 20, 1906, in Emmeram, Kansas, to Martin and Catherine (Sander) Windholz. She married Francis H. Robben on October 28, 1929, at Emmeram, Kansas. He died February 14, 1974.
She was a homemaker and farmers wife on the farm south of Walker, Kansas. She received her teaching degree from Hays Normal School and was a school teacher at Emmeram, Kansas for three years before her marriage. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Christian Mothers both of Walker, Kansas, and a member of the Victoria V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was a resident at St. John’s Health Care Center since 2001.
Survivors include one son Norbert F. Robben, Walker, KS; three daughters, Shirley Vonfeldt and husband Francis, Plainville, KS; Lillian Hockman and husband Ken, Sacramento, CA; June Denning, Spring Hill, KS; one son-in-law, Marion Schumacher, Munjor, KS; two daughters-in-law, Louise Robben and Doris Robben, both of Victoria, KS; one sister-in-law, Hilaria Windholz, Victoria, KS; 26 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren; 33 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Kenneth Robben and Charles Robben; one daughter, Natalie Schumacher; one daughter-in-law, Theresa Robben; one infant son, Francis Henry Robben; six brothers, John, Michael, Wendelin, Isadore, Peter, Anselm “Scotty” Windholz; six sisters, Barbara Denning, Catherine Quint, Elizabeth Schmeidler, Magadalena Windholz, Eleanor Windholz, Mary Kuhn; two infant sisters, Marie Windholz and Maria Florina Windholz.
Services are 10:00 A.M. Tuesday January 3, 2012, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Walker, Kansas. Burial at St. Ann’s Cemetery Walker, Kansas.
A vigil service is at 7:00 P.M. Monday followed by a St. Ann’s Christian Mothers rosary/ V.F.W. Auxiliary memorial service at 7:30 P.M. Monday all at Cline’s Mortuary 412 Main Street Victoria, Kansas 67671. Visitation is from 3:30 to 9:00 P.M. Monday at Cline’s Mortuary Victoria, Kansas, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M.
