The Hays Larks out-hit El Dorado 13-11 but were outscored 7-5 in the series finale at McDonald Park in El Dorado Sunday night. The Broncos sweep the four-game series to move into first place in the Jayhawk League North. The Larks are now 15-16 overall and 11-14 in the Jayhawk League where they sit 5 1/2 games back.
It’s the first time the Larks have been swept on the road in a four-game series since May 29-31, 1998 at Elkhart. It’s also the first time they’ve been swept on the road in a series of three or more games since 2005 also in El Dorado.
The Larks score three in the third inning on RBI singles from Brooks Balisterri and Reggie Wilson to go up 4-2 but the Broncos rally with two in the fourth to tie then three in the sixth to take the lead.
Derek Birginske takes the loss allowing three runs on four hits.
Hays is off today before hosting Dodge City Tuesday night.
