The mercury dipped to near-record levels Tuesday evening, with a low of 50 recorded.

It was just 1 degree off the record low, which was set in 1999, according to the K-State Ag Research Center in Hays.

The record high for July 7 is 112 degrees in 1980.

The cool snap isn’t expected to last, with the temperature expected to hit triple digits again by Saturday.
