GREAT BEND — Eagle Communications Inc. of Great Bend on Wednesday announced the promotion of Randy Goering to the position of market manager. He succeeds Rick Nulton, who will continue in the leadership role through the end of July.

Goering began his broadcast career during his senior year of high school working after classes as an on-air personality at KNEX (now KNGL/KBBE) in McPherson. For the first 10 years of his career, he worked at radio stations in Hutchinson, Hays, Liberal and Junction City.

In 1984, he landed in Great Bend working at KVGB AM/FM. In 1990, he joined the Eagle Team at KHOK and was involved in Eagle’s acquisition of KVGB AM/FM. Goering has served as the Sales Manager for the Great Bend market over the last 20 years.

“We are very excited to have Randy in the leadership role in our Great Bend market,” Eagle Communications President and CEO, Gary Shorman said. “As an employee-owned company, our success is determined by the success of each individual. Randy has been successful in leading one of the top sales teams in Eagle and that growth will continue with our new digital media products.”

Shorman continued, “Rick Nulton has set the bar high for success, and we are pleased that he will continue to be an Eagle and assist with production and imaging for our group.”

Goering says, “I am fortunate to be able to lead a team of dedicated employee-owners who share the vision of providing local information and entertainment to the communities we serve through the Eagle Media outlets. The team members are the ones who get it done on a daily basis, and keep our communities connected.”

Randy and his wife, Annette, have been married for 33 years and have two daughters, Lindsey Elsen along with husband Cory and their infant son Parker of Hays; and Kendra Goering of Olathe. In his free time, he has spent the last 17 years as the “Voice of the Panthers” and was rewarded with induction into the Great Bend High School Hall of Fame in February.
