1 dead, 2 hospitalized after NW Kan. crash

SHARON SPRINGS – One person died and two were injured in an accident just after 2 p.m. on Wednesday in Wallace County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1999 Ford F250 driven by Jay William Ewing, 25, Silver Lake, was at the stop sign at County Road 26 and U.S. 40 eight miles east of Sharon Springs.

The vehicle left the stop sign before it was safe to do so and struck a 2013 Chevy Malibu that was westbound on U.S. 40 in the driver door and front left corner.

The driver of the Malibu Mary T. Aldrich, 50, Sterling IL., was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Koons Funeral Home in Goodland.

Ewing and a passenger in the Malibu Norma J Andrews, 63, Sterling, IL., were transported to Goodland Regional Medical Center.

Aldrich was not wearing a seat belt according to the KHP.
