Jake Wilcox and Nick Goza combine on a three-hitter helping the Hays Larks to a 4-1 win over the Dodge City A’s Wednesday night at Cavalier Field in Dodge City.
In his first start of the season, Wilcox (1-2) struck out eight and walked just one and allowed just two base runners to second base over six shutout innings.
Nick Goza pitched the final three innings, giving up one unearned run for his second career save.
Derek Berginske’s two-run homer highlighted the Larks three-run sixth. Corky Welch also drove in a run with single in the third as the Larks win their second straight and move into a third-place tie with the Athletics in the Jayhawk North at 17-16 overall and 13-14 in league play.
