The City of Hays is looking for a Police Officer to join its team. If you are looking for a rewarding hands-on career, this is the job for you! This position responds to emergency situations, enforces federal, state, & local laws, investigates accidents & crimes, makes arrests & issues traffic citations. This position works 12-hour shifts & rotates every four months between day & night shift. Weekend & holiday work is required.
Aptitude & physical tests & background investigations will be conducted. Next available aptitude & physical test is scheduled for Wednesday July 29, 2015. Applicants will receive more information about the testing process when application is received. Job offers contingent on pre-employment psychological evaluation, physical exam & drug screening.
Requirements
Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen and at least 21 years of age with no felony convictions. Valid Kansas driver’s license & High School Degree or GED required with a technical degree or college degree preferred. The ideal candidate has the ability to efficiently write reports, read & interpret maps & provide great written & verbal instructions. KLETC Certification preferred. All Police Officers are required to live within the 3-mile planning district of the City of Hays.
Compensation & Benefits
Full pay range $16.83 – $27.43. Placement within the range depends on experience. The City of Hays offers great benefits including City paid family health insurance, paid time off, KP&F retirement & holidays.
