County surveillance camera helps in Kan. home burglary arrest

SALINA- A surveillance camera set up to watch for potential crime helped with the apprehension of one of two suspects in a home burglary.

Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski said between July 4th and July 7th, a home in the 1100 block of West Grand was broken into.

Entry to the home was made by forcing open the front door.

The homeowner reported clothing and food were taken from the home on two different occasions.

After taking the report officers checked cameras set up near the area of the home and were able to get pictures of the two men near the home.

Clarence E. Douglas, 48, a homeless man was arrested on two counts of burglary and one count of theft.

Kochanowski said a warrant has been issued for the arrest of another suspect.

Kochanowski said the surveillance cameras are used in several different areas of the county after report of significant crime in those areas.
