ELLINWOOD – A Kansas man died in an accident just after 2 a.m. on Saturday in Barton County.

According to police a 1989 GMC 1500 truck driven by Philip L. Bryant, 63, Chase, was eastbound in the 1100 Block of East Barton County Road.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned in a ditch.

An officer on patrol for the City of Ellinwood observed the vehicle in the ditch and contacted Emergency crews.

Bryant was pinned in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office. It is unknown at this time if alcohol is a contributing factor.
