SALINA – Law enforcement authorities have taken a man into custody after a high-speed pursuit that began just before 11 a.m. on Sunday in Salina and ended in Ellsworth County.
The suspect, who authorities say was wanted for a vehicle burglary, fled after being spotted by the vehicle’s owner during the commission of the burglary.
Police spotted his vehicle, a white Nissan Versa, near the Central Mall in Salina.
The suspect did not stop after police emergency lights were activated.
The suspect drove through the Indian Village area in west Salina, north on Centennial from Republic and then west on Crawford, north on Hedville Road to westbound Interstate 70.
The chase would remain on Interstate 70, hitting speeds of 110 mph, before the suspect hit stop spikes near milepost 226 in Ellsworth County.
The spikes blew out two tires of the vehicle and the chase finally came to a conclusion near the Lincoln exit at milepost 221.
The suspect was taken into custody without further incident at that location. He will likely face multiple charges.
Law enforcement officers from Saline County, Ellsworth County and the Kansas Highway Patrol were involved in the pursuit.
