Kan. man arrested, treated for gunshot wound

SALINA – A Kansas man was booked into the Saline County Jail Wednesday on charges of domestic battery and felony damage to property, after being treated for a gunshot wound to his hand.

Deputies were sent to a home in Gypsum late Tuesday on a domestic disturbance call according to Sheriff Glen Kochanowski.

When they arrived they found a 1998 F-150 with all the windows broken out.

A woman at the home said Edward L. Swisher, 53, Gypsum, broke the windows out with a tire tool after getting into an argument with her. She said he left with friends but also had a gunshot wound to his hand.

Deputies located Swisher with his friends in the McPherson County community of Canton and brought him to Saline County.

Kochanowski said Swisher who had been with friends shooting a rifle in McPherson County, suffered the gunshot wound after he held out a hat for his friend to shoot.

The friend missed the hat and shot Swisher in the hand.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the battery, damage to property and the accidental shooting.
