CHENEY RESERVOIR – Law enforcement officials are investigating a Sunday evening accident at Cheny Reservoir.

The accident occurred just after 8:30 p.m. on the southwest side of the lake in the Hobie Beach area.

Two people were seriously injured and transported to a Wichita hospital after a Jet Ski and a boat collided, according Dennis Zehr with the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism.

The Jet Ski apparently went over the boat, striking two that were sitting in the passenger seats of the boat.

Two others sitting on the driver’s side were not injured.

The operator of the jet ski was knocked unconscious but came to and initially declined to be transported to the hospital, but was later taken by private vehicle.

One person was also arrested for suspicion of the use of alcohol. He was taken to the Kingman County Jail.

They were all a part of the same group at the lake according to Zehr.
