HUTCHINSON -Two Kansas Department of Corrections inmates appeared in Reno County court on Thursday..

The two men, 22-year-old Jerrod Green, 22, and Juan Garza, 31, are charged with attempted capital murder or in the alternative aggravated battery.

The two are also charged with conspiracy to commit attempted capital murder or in the alternative conspiracy to commit aggravated battery.

The two men are alleged to have attacked another inmate, Miguel Garcia, allegedly to kill him, but failed.

Garcia was injured in the June 2014 attack, resulting in the alternate count of aggravated battery.

Green entered a plea, but then withdrew that plea, so he appeared again in court again.

He is serving time for a crime of aggravated battery in Finney County.

Garza is serving time for aggravated robbery, aggravated battery and drug convictions in Seward County.

They are both due back in court on August 19.
