Missouri Southern Too Much For FHSU, Defeat Tigers 82-71

Missouri Southern shot 54-percent from the floor and hit 13-of-17 free throws as they hand Fort Hays State their first three-game losing streak since 2008 with an 82-71 win at Gross Coliseum Monday night.

The Lions scored 13-straight over a five and-a-half minute stretch of the first half to go up 17. The Tigers answered with an 18-6 run to pull within five with under a minute to play in the first half, but a missed shot and MSSU 3-pointer saw the Tigers down eight at the break 40-32.

Southern outscored the Tigers 13-5 to begin the second half  to  build a 16-point lead and led by as many as 21 in the second half.

Fort Hays State shot just 42-percent but were just 4-for-22 from 3-point range.

Markus Yarbrough four Tigers in double-figures with a season-high 13 points. Tyrone Phillips and Kendrick Morse both score 12 and Karron McKenzie 10.

Missouri Southern was led by Jason Adams 24 points with Keane Thomann adding 22.

The loss drops FHSU to 10-4 and 4-4 in the MIAA.
