Ellis County Discusses Storm Siren Replacement

Ellis County is trying to formulate a plan for upgrading the storm siren system. Emergency Management Coordinator Bill Ring says the county can replace the current sirens or install new controllers for the existing sirens, but neither of those plans addresses new developments in the county. Ring suggested a policy for new developments with a minimum number of homes.

The county commissioners want to make a decision on upgrading the current sirens soon as severe weather season approaches. They will discuss the issue again at the next meeting on February 6th.
