Houston (Hugh) G Stubbs

houston_stubbsHouston (Hugh) G Stubbs, 94, Grainfield, died Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at the Gove County Medical Center, Long Term Care, Quinter. He was born July 11, 1921, on the family farm near Grainfield, the son of John James and Katherine M (Birrer) Stubbs.

He was raised on the farm and graduated from Grainfield Rural High School in 1939 and served in the US Navy during World War II. Mr. Stubbs was a farmer who owned and operated Stubbs Radio and TV, Grainfield. He was also an electronics instructor at Northwest Kansas Area Vocational-Technical School, Goodland. Mr. Stubbs was a member of the American Legion Post 301, Grainfield, Masonic Lodge No. 410, and Eastern Star Millbrook Chapter 108, both of Quinter.

He married Louise M Hough on July 5, 1945, in Topeka, Kansas. She died in March, 1999. Mr. Stubbs was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gail E Stubbs, and sisters Marguerite J Stubbs and Louise S Parrish, and a daughter, Sheryl L Colvin. Survivors include two sons, John H (Eunice) Stubbs, Abilene, and Keith A Stubbs, Grainfield; grandsons, Eric (Jamie) Stubbs, Abilene and Clayton (Michaela) Stubbs, Topeka, and granddaughters, Heather Clark, Parker, CO, and Mary Stubbs, Naperville, IL, one great grandson and three great granddaughters.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at the United Methodist Church, Grainfield. Burial will be in Grainfield Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Memorials Contributions are suggested to Grainfield United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 301, Grainfield, or Gove County Long Term Care Transportation Van.
