HUTCHINSON– A Kansas man already serving time in prison on a number of felony charges went before a Reno County judge Wednesday for the reading of a new charge of felony theft.
Patrick McCroy, 27, Hutchinson, is now accused of stealing a Ford F-350 pickup in August of this year.
His bond in that case set at $2,500 and he requested a signature bond so he could go to rehab once he’s released from prison, on Dec. 20. Magistrate Judge Cheryl Allen denied his request.
McCroy is serving time for convictions including aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, obstruction, possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia and driving while suspended.
He admitted to breaking into a Hutchinson apartment and beating the occupant, prior to demanding a television that he claimed belonged to his sister. He also allegedly wanted pills, the victim’s phone, money, computers and other electronic items.
McCroy was on corrections for the 2012 convictions of obstruction, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia at the time of that incident.
His new case will move to a future waiver-status docket.
