Hays, Kansas – Cyrilla C. (Schmidt) Evans, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Via Christi Village Care Center Hays, Kansas. She was born in Catharine, Kansas to Adolph J. and Adeleid (Walter) Schmidt. She married Maynard Lowell Evans on July 20, 1946, in San Diego, CA.

She was a homemaker, a substitute cook and assistant cook at Fort Hays Sate University and U.S.D. 489, Hays, KS. She was member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Christian Mothers Altar Society and V.F.W. Auxiliary all of Hays, KS.

Survivors include her husband, Maynard L. Evans, Via Christi Village Hays, KS; one daughter, Diane and husband, Harry, Schukman, Knoxville, TN; two grandchildren, Evan Christopher Schukman and Malea Dyan Schukman, both of Knoxville, TN; four brothers, Emery Schmidt and wife, Shirley, Catharine, KS; Adolph Schmidt and wife, DeAnn, Gerald Schmidt and wife, Elaine, Elmer Schmidt and wife, Rosie, all of Hays, KS; one sister Cora Dortland, Gorham, KS; one sister-in-law, Esther Schmidt, Hays, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step mother, Anna (Staab) Schmidt; an infant son, David Evans; three brothers, Celestine Schmidt, Herbert (Francie) Schmidt, Alfred “Al” Schmidt; one infant bother, Elmer Schmidt; two sisters, Irene (Ray) Dinkel, Fidelia (Wilfred) Rome and one brother-in-law, Everet Dortland.

Services are 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Hays, KS. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery Hays, KS.

A Daughter of Isabella rosary and V.F.W. Auxiliary memorial service is at 6:30 P.M. Tuesday, followed by a vigil service at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, all at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.

Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:30 P.M. Monday, and from 8:30 to 9:45 A.M. Tuesday, all at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays.
