Bobby Wayne Harger passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015, at Willard Walker Hospice Home, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was a former WaKeeney, Kansas resident. He was born on October 16, 1933, to the late Orval L. and Florence V. (Melinch) Harger, in Quinter, Kansas.
On December 20, 1956, he married Rita LaVerne Vankirk, in Chicago, Illinois. She precedes him in death. Bobby served in the United States Army, and was stationed in St. Andre, France. He was attached to the 101st Airborne Division. Bobby was a proud veteran.
Survivors include two sons, Garry (Susie) of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and James (Ferol) of Rogers, Arkansas; two daughters, Julie (David) Skach of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Nancy Bailey of Checotah, Oklahoma; one grandchild, Jordan Havens; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Seth and Rune Havens. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Floyd Harger; and a sister, Joyce Jamison.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 21, 2015 at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney. Burial will be in the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery, WaKeeney. Military honors will be presented by Ft. Riley Honor Guard. There will be no visitation.
