New Way$ to Water Wi$dom calendar includes more than the date

You’ll find more than just the dates and months on a newly-produced 2016 calendar available to Ellis County residents.

The 2016 Way$ to Water Wi$dom calendar is a partnership between the Fort Hays State University Leadership 310 team The Water Wi$e Tigers, Kansas State University Big Creek Middle Smoky Hill River Watersheds, and the city of Hays.

The goal, according to Stacie Minson, KSU Watershed Specialist, is to raise awareness of
water conservation and water quality in Ellis County.

The free calendar features the first and second place winning posters from participating Hays schools in last spring’s Water Quality Poster contest sponsored by the city. There are also friendly tips for households and businesses for ways to protect local water supplies and to improve water conservation efforts.

The Way$ to Water Wi$dom calendars are being distributed through all of the school districts in Ellis County, by community churches, on the FHSU campus, and by the cities of Hays and Ellis.

This 2016 Way$ to Water Wi$dom Calendar was made possible though contributions and sponsors including: city of Hays, Fort Hays State University, KSU Big Creek Middle Smoky Hill River Watersheds, Home Depot, Midwest Energy, Culligan Water Conditioning, Ellis County, Walmart, Sunflower Electric Power, Big D’s Rent-all, Commerce Bank, Ellis County Conservation District, Hays Chamber of Commerce, Rohr’s Carpet, Big Creek Crossing, Commercial Sign Co., Radke Implement Inc., Hays Storage Systems, Gella’s Diner & LB Brewing Company, Leon’s Welding, Carrico Implement, Riedel’s Garden Center, Northwestern Printers, K-State Research & Extension Agricultural Experiment Station, city of Ellis, Great Plains Dermatology, and Samuel Gary & Associates.

Calendars can be picked up at the listed local businesses or at the Ellis County Extension Office and the Ellis County Health Department, both located at 601 Main Street, Hays.
