ELLIS COUNTY–Ellis County emergency responders were called to the report of a head-on collision northeast of Hays at 6:17 a.m. Monday on north Commerce Parkway, at 270th Avenue and Hilltop.

According to initial Ellis County Law Enforcement radio scanner reports, one vehicle caught fire and both were in the east ditch.

Three people were reported to be suffering traumatic injuries at the scene and were transferred by Ellis County EMS to HaysMed.

The vehicles involved were a Suburban SUV and a Dodge flatbed truck. The vehicle fire was reported extinguished by Rural Fire at 6:33 a.m. Emergency personnel were on the scene until shortly after 7 a.m.
