Bittel announces candidacy for District Judge

Blake A. Bittel would like to announce his 2016 candidacy for District Judge for the 23rdBittle

Judicial District on the Republican ticket. The 23rd Judicial District is comprised of Ellis, Trego,

Gove, and Rooks Counties.

Bittel was born in Wakeeney, Kansas, grew up on a farm north of Ellis, and graduated from Ellis

High School. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Fort Hays State University and a Juris

Doctorate from Oklahoma City University School of Law; graduating with honors.

Bittel will bring 18 years of experience to the bench. Following law school he enjoyed a

litigation practice in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, for 14 years and represented business and

individual clients in cases throughout the state of Oklahoma. In 2007 he and his family moved

back to his roots in the 23rd Judicial District. Currently he is a shareholder in Kennedy Berkley

Yarnevich and Williamson Chtd. at their branch office in Hays, Kansas. His practice since

moving back to Kansas is broad and includes domestic, criminal, personal injury, insurance

disputes and a variety of other legal issues.

Bittel, in making his announcement, commends District Court Judge Ed Bouker for his many

years of service and pledges to the citizens of the 23rd Judicial District the same long standing

commitment of service.

The following elements comprise the platform which he will bring to the District Court:

  • Apply broad legal experience to each individual case to reach a fair and balanced
  • Bring integrity and professionalism with a high regard for ethical standards
  • Maintain temperament, composure, and decorum.
  • Commit to rendering fair, well-reasoned, and lawful decisions
  • Ensure equitable access to justice for all citizens of the 23rd Judicial District

He enjoys his hours out of the office spending time with friends, family, his three daughters and

granddaughter. He has great pride in the values, people, and culture of Western Kansas and is

excited to play a bigger role in making sure it remains a great place to live!
