Breezy Today, Windy Friday

A weak cold front will push south through southwestern Kansas this morning.

There will be a several hour period this morning of winds 20 to 30 mph (with higher gusts) before winds decrease back down to 10 to 20 mph. The airmass behind the front will be about the same as ahead of the front…and in fact temperatures may be a couple degrees warmer than Tuesday’s highs in some areas.

On Friday…a much stronger cold front will move south providing a cooler airmass and very strong north winds. The front will move through during the morning hours Friday and winds will range from 25 to 35 mph behind the front from late morning through mid afternoon. Some wind gusts up to 55 mph will be possible at times Friday.

Today: Sunny, with a high near 52. Breezy, with a north northwest wind 20 to 23 mph decreasing to between 10 and 13 mph.

Tonight: A slight chance of sprinkles and flurries after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south.

Friday: A slight chance of sprinkles and flurries before 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. Very windy, with a north northwest wind 11 to 14 mph increasing to between 27 and 30 mph. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 18. Blustery, with a north northwest wind 18 to 21 mph decreasing to between 7 and 10 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 45. West northwest wind between 8 and 13 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 22.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 48.
