The Governor’s tax plan is not a tax cut, but a shift of the tax burden according to 111th District Representative Eber Phelps. He says 560,000 Kansas residents make $25,000 or less, and they are the ones who would receive a tax increase of over 5,000 percent.
The Governor says his plan will offset the increase by investing more in social service programs. Phelps counters that that king of plan would put more people on the welfare roles rather than rewarding hard work.
Phelps says residents making $250,000 or more will get an 18.5 percent tax cut.
