Fort Hays State Rallies For Win At Missouri Western

Moses Dayee hit two key 3-pointers in the final 2:08 Monday night in St. Joseph, helping the Fort Hays State Tigers to come-from-behind 62-58 victory over Missouri Western in St. Joseph.

The Tigers shot 56-percent in the second half after connecting on just 25-percent in the first half. The Tigers were 8-of-14 from beyond in the second half after hitting just 2-of-13 in the first.

The Griffons scored the final six points of the first half to go up 10 at halftime and led by 11 early in the second half before Fort Hays State answered with a 22-8 run to take their first lead on a Markus Yarbough layup with 9:58 to play.

Dayee hit a 3-pointer to put the Tigers up five with 2:08 to play. He added another from the same spot in the left corner with :23 to play to push the lead to four.

Dayee led three Tigers in double-figures with 14 points. Kendrick Morse and Lance Russell both add 13. Matt Simmons didn’t score but led the Tigers with nine rebounds including two big offensive boards in the closing minutes.

The win improves the Tigers to 14-5 and 8-5 in the MIAA.
