Yep, it was unseasonably hot in Hays Thursday–warm enough to set a new record high of 91 degrees for Feb. 18.
According to official statistics from the K-State Agriculture Research Center, that absolutely melted the old 1930 record of 78 degrees.
And, as Official Weather Guy Joe Becker pointed out, just 18 days ago Hays had six inches of snow on the ground.
A few melting mounds of dirty snow can still be seen around town, piled in the corners of large parking lots.
