Hot Shooting Washburn Defeats Lady Tigers 75-55

The Washburn Lady Blues close the first half on a 13-2 run to to up 12 at halftime, then shoot 68-percent in the second half to defeat the Fort Hays State Lady Tigers 75-55 Saturday afternoon at Lee Arena in Topeka.

The Lady Tigers pulled within two at 22-20 with 4:17 to play in the first half before Washburn scored the final 1o points of the half.

FHSU (15-7, 7-7 MIAA) could never get closer than nine in the second half and lose their eighth straight at Lee Arena.

Kate Edwards recorded her seventh double-double of the season scoring 15 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Kate Lehman added 17 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots to set the Fort Hays State single-season block shot record with 66, surpassing the old mark of 64 held by Erica Biel.

The Tigers shot 35-percent for the game but were just 4-for-15 from 3-point range and lose for the fourth time in five games.
