FINNEY COUNTY – Law enforcement authorities in Finney County are investigating two suspects after a chase and rollover crash.

Just before 2a.m. on Wednesday, police attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 500 Block of North Main Street in Garden City on a Chevy Truck driven by Jason Sanford, 21, Garden City, because it was without a vehicle tag, according to a media release.

As officers attempted the traffic stop the truck accelerated at a high rate of speed in an attempt to elude officers. A vehicle pursuit was initiated.

The truck continued south on Main Street to Burnside Drive where it turned east and continued to evade officers. When the truck came to the intersection of Burnside Drive and the Highway 83 Bypass, the driver lost control and the truck went down the embankment and rolled.

There were four occupants in the truck.

A19-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries and was transported to St. Catherine Hospital. She was treated and released.

The investigation revealed the driver of the truck, Jason Sanford fled from police because he was allegedly under the influence of drugs and he had no valid driver’s license.

Passenger, Justin Bell, 20, also told the driver, Sanford to flee from police because he possibly had a warrant for his arrest. Further investigation revealed the two female passengers were telling Bell and Sanford to let them out of the vehicle several times during the pursuit and even before the pursuit began, Bell and Sanford denied their requests to get out of the truck.

And Aggravated Kidnapping (x2)

Justin Bell was also arrested on suspicion of Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Battery (x2) Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Kidnapping (x2) Conspiracy to Commit Fleeing and Eluding, and a Municipal Warrant.
