GIRLS: TMP 53, Larned 22
After a slow start, the Thomas More Prep – Marian girls eased by Larned Tuesday night for a 53-22 victory at Al Billinger Fieldhouse. The game marked just the third time TMP has been at home for a game and are now 3-0 at the Fieldhouse.
The Lady Monarchs (12-3) only led 5-1 after the first quarter but held Larned without a field goal for over 12 minutes to start the game. Thanks to 11 points in the second quarter by senior Jenna Lang, TMP took a 22-6 lead into halftime. Lang finished with a game-high 18 points.
Larned (3-13) trimmed the lead to 12 early on in the third quarter, but TMP never saw their lead slip under 20 points in the fourth quarter.
Junior Heather Ruder added 14 points and senior Rachel Jacobs ended the night with 11.
The Lady Monarchs have now won five straight games and improved to 5-0 in conference play.

BOYS: TMP 64, Larned 63
After blowing a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter, the boys from Thomas More Prep – Marian pulled out a 64-63 victory over Larned Tuesday night at Al Billinger Fieldhouse.
The Monarchs were up 55-35 early on in the fourth quarter. Things would get sloppy for TMP (9-6) and Larned’s Jahman Hill could not miss from outside resulting in a a 28-5 run by the Indians.
Larned led 63-60 with 14 seconds remaining. After TMP brought the ball up across half court, coach Joe Hertel called a timeout to setup a potential game-tying 3-point shot. Out of the timeout, the Indians elected to foul and send the Monarchs to the free throw line preventing them from getting a shot off.
Junior Shane Zimmerman sank the first charity toss making it a two-point ballgame. Zimmerman intentionally missed the second and somehow the ball ended up in the hands of senior Kelton Schuckman who put it in with just over three seconds to go and drew a foul.
With the game knotted up at 63, the 71% free throw shooter Schuckman gave the Monarchs the lead after knocking down the free throw. Larned failed to get a good look at the end.
Schuckman finished with 18 points while Zimmerman ended with 11. Both were season highs for the players.
Hill closed the night with 26 points in the loss. Larned’s senior had 17 of his 26 in the fourth quarter.
TMP continues their home stretch this Friday night against Quinter.
