On Thursday, June 2, and Friday, June 3, the Sternberg Wildlife and Conservation Film Festival will feature two nights of documentary programs exploring wildlife, wild places and their interactions with human civilization.

The free community event will be held in the Sternberg Museum lobby, kicking off at 6:30 p.m. each night.

Lineup of films:

Thursday, June 2nd:
6:30pm – 8:00pm: Racing Extinction (90mins)
Racing Extinction is a 2015 documentary by Oscar-winning director Louie Psihoyos about the ongoing man-made mass extinction of species and the efforts from scientists, activists and journalists to document it.

8:10pm – 9:35pm: The End of the Line (85mins)
Documentary filmmaker Rupert Murray examines the devastating effect that overfishing has had on the world’s fish populations and argues that drastic action must be taken to reverse these trends.

Friday, June 3rd:
6:30pm – 8:00pm: The Messenger (89mins)
The Messenger is an artful investigation into the causes of songbird mass depletion and the people working to turn the tide. This visually thrilling film reveals how the issues facing birds also pose daunting implications for our planet.

8:10pm – 9:35pm: Queen of the Sun (83mins)
Taking us on a journey through the catastrophic disappearance of honey bees and the mysterious world of the beehive, this engaging and ultimately uplifting film weaves an unusual and dramatic story of the heartfelt struggles of beekeepers, scientists and philosophers from around the world.

There will be supervised play time available in the Discovery Room, and kid-friendly nature videos playing on the third floor during the documentary screenings in the lobby.

Refreshments will be provided.
