TOPEKA — Kansas Sen. Ralph Ostmeyer, R-Grinnell, will not seek re-election.
Ostmeyer, who has served in the Kansas Senate for 12 years, announced Monday that he is withdrawing from November’s election.
Ostmeyer said in a statement he would like to thank his constituents for all of their support during his years spent at the Kansas State Capitol.

He added, “This was not an easy decision,” but said he looks forward to being home more to spend time with his wife and children and “most importantly, support his grandkids.”
Kansas’ 40th Senate District covers the northwest corner of the state from Ellis to Cheyenne counties, including a portion of Phillips County.
