
Southwest Baptist used a 13-4 run over a 8:40 stretch of the second half to build a nine-point lead and defeat the Fort Hays State Tigers 66-61 Thursday night in Bolivar.
The Tigers rallied from five down to tie the game at 46 with 9:24 to play but the Bearcats push the lead to nine keyed by back-to-back 3-pointers from Jake Littrel. Fort Hays closed within three on back-to-back Moses Dayee 3-pointers, but would never get any closer.
Karron McKenzie scored 15 first half points and Moses Dayee hit four first half 3’s helping the Tigers build a 30-27 halftime lead.
FHSU held the Bearcats to 37-percent shooting for the game and 7-for-23 from 3-point range but could manage just 39-percent shooting themselves as they fall to 16-7 and 10-7 in the MIAA. SBU improves to 17-10 and 10-8 in the MIAA as they win for the 11th time in their last 14 games.
