GIRLS: Hays 53, Dodge City 37
The Hays High Lady Indians used a 13-2 run in the 2nd half and 14 of 20 free throw shooting in the fourth quarter to claim the out-right Western Athletic Conference title with a 53-37 win over Dodge City on senior night.

Hays High never trailed in the game where the Indians hit three of their first four three pointers.  Paige Lunsford scored 21 points and hit all eight of her free throws.  Hays High had four players score eight or more points in the game and held Dodge City to just 2 of 16 shooting on the three point field goals.

Hays moves to 15-4 on the season and 7-0 in conference play.  It is the first conference title for the Lady Indians since winning back to back crowns in 2002 and 2003.

They remain one game behind Salina Central for the one seed in sub-state.

BOYS: Dodge City 42, Hays 31
Hays High and Dodge City battled for the third time this season last night.  The Indians trailed by eight early in the second quarter on three consecutive treys from the Red Demons, but fought back with a 9-1 run, tying the game at half time.

After Hays took a four point lead early in the third, Dodge City went on a 16-3 run and hit 9 of their 10 second half free throws.

Trey Hallman from Dodge City led the game in scoring with 19…12 of which came in the fourth quarter, he also made all nine of his free throws.  Hays was led in scoring by a career high eleven from Kade Parker and ten from freshman Brady Werth.

Hays drops to 5-14 on the season and 1-6 in the conference.  Dodge City can win the title on Friday with a win over Liberal.  A loss to Liberal andDodge City would tie Garden City for the conference title.

The Indians are on the road this Friday to finish the regular season in Great Bend.
