OAKLEY — The Kansas Governor’s Ringneck Classic Board of Directors has selected Colby as host of the 2017 Classic.
Board member Jim Millensifer said he is pleased to welcome Colby to the Northwest Kansas Classic community.
“The town has the infrastructure, enthusiasm and community support that will ensure a successful event,” he said.
Colby is the county seat of Thomas County – also known as “The Oasis on the Plains.”
Julie Satler, Executive Director of the Colby Convention & Visitors Bureau said she is looking forward to the opportunity to showcase not only Colby, but all Thomas County.
“Hunting has always been an important part of our history and tourism,” she said.
During the selection process, Millensifer met with The Colby Chamber of Commerce and the Convention and Visitor Bureau. Both groups expressed their commitment to supporting the premier pheasant hunting event of northwest Kansas.
“We’re excited about hosting the 2017 Kansas Governor’s Ringneck Classic,” said Tamara Clymer, Executive Director of the Colby/Thomas County Chamber of Commerce. “We are looking forward to working with the organizing committee and our Chamber businesses to offer guests an unparalleled hunting experience.”
