
Kate Lehman scored 16 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked four shots, leading the Fort Hays State Lady Tigers to their fifth-straight win, 72-61 over No. 11 Pittsburg State Wednesday night at Gross Coliseum.
The Tigers led by two at halftime, 31-29, but used an 11-5 run to go up eight on a Crista Bechard 3-pointer. They never let the Gorillas any closer than five the rest of the way.
The Tigers pulled away with free throw shooting, hitting 21 of their final 22 shots from the line and go 24-for-31 for the game.
Crista Bechard added 13 points, Kate Edwards 12 along with 10 rebound and Kaiameka Brown added 10 points.
FHSU improves to 20-7 and 12-7 in the MIAA. It’s the Tigers first 20-win season since 2005-06. Pittsburg State drops back-to-back games for the first time all season and is now 23-4 and 17-3 in the MIAA.
