Emporia State used some tough defense and a 22-10 second half run to go up 10 and defeat the Fort Hays State Lady Tigers 73-64 Saturday night at Gross Coliseum.

The Tigers closed the first half on a 5-0 run to tie the game at 28 and led by four early in the second but the No. 22 Hornets pushed the lead to 10 on two different occasions. The Lady Tigers would get as close as three with a little over a minute to play, but could get no closer.

Kate Edwards and Kate Lehman both scored 14 to lead the Tigers in scoring. Crista Bechard added 13.

The Tigers (20-8, 12-8 MIAA) finish in fifth place in the MIAA, their best season since joining the conference.
