Winning Powerball ticket sold in Colby

Kansas Lottery

The $150,000 Powerball winning ticket from the Aug. 17 drawing has been claimed. An Indiana resident traveling through Kansas purchased the winning ticket that matched four of the first five Powerball numbers plus the Powerball to win $50,000. Since he also purchased the Power Play option, his prize tripled to $150,000!

“I travel a lot and always buy Powerball tickets in each state I visit,” said the winner, who wished to remain anonymous. “I checked my ticket when I returned home and couldn’t believe how much I’d won. I thought about claiming my prize by mail, but decided against it. I was afraid it would get lost in the mail. After winning $150,000, I didn’t mind making another trip to Kansas.”

The lucky winner purchased his $15 Quick Pick Powerball Power Play ticket at Oasis Travel Truck Center, located at 700 Horton Ave. in Colby. For selling the big winning ticket, the store is eligible for a $1,000 selling bonus.
