ELLIS — Just days after a 3.5 earthquake shook Ellis, three more small quakes were detected Thursday night.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the first quake, at 9:58 p.m., registered a 3.3 in magnitude and was centered 9.3 miles north of Ellis.
A second quake — 3.1 in magnitude — was detected just before 11 p.m., centered 8 miles north of Ellis.
Just before 1 a.m., a third quake, registering 2.6, was centered just more than 4 miles north of Ellis.
According to an Ellis resident who didn’t wish to be identified, the first two quakes “shook the house.”
