HAYS, KS-Plainville rode the legs and arm of senior quarterback Hayden Friend on Friday night en route to a 60-14 win over TMP at Lewis Field Stadium. Friend ran for 79 yards and three touchdowns and threw for another 216 yards and three scores. Riley Nyp added 73 yards and three more touchdowns on the ground for the Cardinals.
Plainville grabbed the early lead and never gave it up, leading 16-0 after the first quarter of play. TMP scored their only touchdown of the first half early in the second quarter on a 71 yard Luke Ruder run. The Cardinals would tack on the next 14 points to end the half and take a 30-7 lead at the break.
After a long homecoming halftime show Planville came out of the gates on fire and scored 30 third quarter points to put the game away. TMP was able to add one score in the third but still trailed 60-14 heading into the fourth quarter. Neither team put up any points in the final frame as Plainville picked up the 46 point win.
The Cardinals are now 3-1 on the season and will play their third straight game on the road next Friday at Republic County. TMP drops to 0-4 and will travel to take on Cimarron.
