Town of Lucas Rallies Around Family after Sudden Illness

The community of Lucas is stepping up to help a family that has been struck by a sudden tragedy. 33-year-old Yeney Rosado had a kidney stone that infected her blood, nearly causing her death. Doctors at Via Christi in Wichita have had to amputate both of Rosado’s hands and legs below the knee. Rosado and her husband Kelvin Lopez have five children.

A pot luck fundraiser will be held Sunday at noon at the Lucas Grade School gym, and a fund for the family has been set up through the Bennington State Bank in Lucas and Sylvan Grove. Donations can be made out to the Lopez Family Fund.
