Eastern Colorado Wildfires Force Evacuations

Authorities say residents of between 200 and 300 homes have been asked to evacuate in northeastern Colorado’s rural Yuma County due to several wildfires burning in the area.

Reverse notifications have gone out to the residents, and those who were displaced are being asked to go to the community center in Yuma.

Day says several homes have been touched by the fires, but he isn’t sure how much damage has been caused or how much land has been scorched. He asks that residents stay off the roads because of heavy smoke blowing through the area.

Yuma County borders Kansas and Nebraska.
