Summer’s here and so is summer reading. Make sure you check out all the ways to pump up your summer at the Hays Public Library.
Adult Summer Reading: All ages can participate in summer reading at the Hays Public Library. Summer reading or adults ages 18+ begins June 1 and ends on August 1. To participate, adults should stop by the front desk and pick up a bookmark. Everyone who picks up a bookmark will also receive a free mug! Complete all the items listed on the bookmark, turn it in and be entered to win one of two grand prizes. Prizes will be drawn on August 2.
Edible Books: The tenth annual edible books competition will take place at the Hays Public Library on Saturday, June 3 in the Schmidt Gallery. All ages are eligible to participate. Entries must be made from mostly edible materials and depict either a book or book character. Entries should be dropped off between 9 am and noon on June 3. The people’s choice judging will take place between noon and 3 pm. Edible books is delicious fun for the whole family!
Read-a-thon: All departments will be participating in a read-a-thon on June 7. Reading hours will be from 10 am to 6 pm. Patrons who want to participate should check in at the circulation desk in the respective department. Time spent reading will be tracked throughout the day. Refreshments will be available for read-a-thon participants.
